MySQL is proud to announce the Fall 2008 Release of the MySQL Enterprise Monitor. A new MySQL Query Analyzer allows you to improve application performance by quickly identifying and fixing problem queries. Plus, new Advisor Rules enable DBAs to implement more MySQL best practices relating to administration, security and performance.

The Fall 2008 Release adds the following new functionality:

  • New MySQL Query Analyzer – The new MySQL Query Analyzer helps you improve application performance by monitoring query performance and accurately pinpointing SQL code that is causing a slow down. Queries are presented in an aggregated view across all MySQL servers so you can analyze your most expensive code by total executions, total run time, total data size and by using drill downs into sampled executions and EXPLAIN results. With the MySQL Query Analyzer, you can tune the SQL code during active development and continuously monitor and fine-tune the queries in production, making it easier than ever to achieve peak performance on MySQL.
  • New Advisor Rules – 16 new MySQL Advisor Rules enable you to further monitor and leverage expert advice on 600+ MySQL and OS variables. The new Security, Administration, Upgrade, Performance and Schema rules are designed to reduce downtime and maintain high level of security, performance and availability for your MySQL servers.

  1. Install agent with built-in proxy (accept the proxy configuration defaults with 4040 as the default proxy port)
  2. Configure your application to send SQL to the proxy port (e.g. 4040)
